Terms & conditions

These terms apply when you request a quote or place an order with Mokumvertalen for sworn translation services.

Last updated: June 2026

1. Service

Mokumvertalen provides sworn (certified) translations between Spanish and English for use in the Netherlands and elsewhere, as applicable. Translations are delivered as physical, stamped and signed paper documents sent by post unless otherwise agreed in writing.

2. Orders and payment

Placing an order and completing payment constitutes a binding order for the services described in your quote. Prices shown on the website are indicative until checkout; the price confirmed at payment includes the selected turnaround and is subject to 21% Dutch BTW unless stated otherwise. Payment is processed via our payment provider (iDEAL or card).

3. Right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer, you generally have the right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days without giving reasons, under EU and Dutch consumer law. This right does not apply to our sworn translation service because it is a personalised service: the translation is produced specifically for you based on your document and the details you provide (a contract for services made to your specifications). We inform you of this exemption before you place an order. By completing payment and accepting these terms, you acknowledge that the statutory right of withdrawal does not apply to your order. Questions before ordering? Email info@mokumvertalen.nl.

4. Your information

You are responsible for providing accurate information when requesting a quote and placing an order, including document type, language pair, estimated page count, and any file you upload. The quote is based on the details you supply. If the actual document differs materially from what you described, the final price or scope may change.

5. Document review

After we receive your order and payment, we review the document you uploaded (if any) and the order details you provided. If we identify a discrepancy — for example in document type, number of pages, or word count — we will contact you at the email address you provided before starting the translation work.

6. Cancellation and refunds

We may cancel an order manually if we cannot fulfil it, if payment cannot be verified, or if the uploaded document does not match the description you provided in terms of document type, page count, or word volume. In such cases we will offer a full refund of the amount paid, or a partial refund where part of the work has already been completed with your agreement. Refunds are processed via the original payment method where possible. If you cancel before we have started work, contact us as soon as possible; we will assess cancellation on a case-by-case basis.

7. Pricing adjustments

If review shows that the document requires substantially more or less work than quoted (e.g. significantly more pages or a different document category), we will not begin translation until you have accepted a revised price or chosen to cancel with a refund as set out above.

8. Delivery

Delivery is by post to the address you provide at checkout. Turnaround times are estimates based on the option you select (standard or priority) and begin after any document review and price confirmation. Risk of loss passes to you upon posting. Tracking information will be sent by email when available.

9. Liability

We perform sworn translations with professional care. Our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant order, except where limitation is not permitted under applicable law. We are not liable for indirect loss, delays caused by postal services, or use of the translation for purposes other than those discussed at order.

10. Applicable law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Disputes shall be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands, unless mandatory consumer protection rules in your country of residence require otherwise.

11. Online dispute resolution (EU)

The European Commission provides an online platform for resolving disputes between consumers and online traders: EU online dispute resolution platform Our email address for complaints is info@mokumvertalen.nl. We are not obliged to participate in alternative dispute resolution procedures, but we aim to resolve complaints fairly and promptly.

12. Contact

For questions about these terms, cancellations, or refunds, reply to your order confirmation email or contact us at diego@direon.nl.
